Retail Industry Consultant - Irvine, CA

The Lexmark Retail Industry Consultant leverages vertical industry knowledge and expertise to help the North American sales team prospect and qualify opportunities for the sale of Lexmark solutions into retail enterprises.

The industry consultant works with the Lexmark direct end-user sales team as a subject matter expert in articulating how Lexmark’s solutions are applied by retailers to reduce costs, improve customer service and improve efficiencies.  

Duties and Responsibilities include:

Industry Expertise:

  • Develop and maintain knowledge and expertise of trends, directions, and key issues within the retail industry.
  • Maintain and develop industry partner contacts through participation in events, conferences and networking.
  • Maintain specific knowledge of capabilities of Lexmark products, solutions and services and how they apply to the retail industry.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge and expertise of broader industry applications and solutions.

Customer-Facing Industry Consulting and Sales Execution:

  • Assist the Lexmark Account Manager with prospecting and qualifying opportunities through direct engagement and interaction with targeted accounts.
  • Act as the subject matter expert regarding Lexmark’s value proposition for retailers by engaging with senior executives at prospective customers to describe Lexmark’s solutions value proposition and explain how other similar enterprises have leveraged Lexmark capability to benefit their organization.
  • Leverage detailed experience in the industry and solution expertise to fully articulate the value of Lexmark offerings such that prospective customer will engage in opportunity specific dialogue and projects.
  • Provide solutions content for RFP/RFI responses.
  • Provide industry-specific training to Lexmark channel and alliance partners.

Industry Consulting – Strategic Planning and Support:

  • Identify new industry solution opportunities and advise Solution Development in requirements definition.
  • Provide Industry Marketing with solutions content that can be used in marketing deliverables and campaigns. 
  • Provide industry-specific training and sales aids to Lexmark field sales personnel.

The Ideal Candidate will have the following experience and background:

  • 5+ years of experience in the retail industry
  • Technical aptitude and IT systems experience with an understanding of how enterprise solutions deliver value
  • Preferred experience in IT or key lines-of-business roles within retail with knowledge of processes and systems
  • Strong interest and desire for direct customer engagement
  • Comfortable acting as a subject matter expert during sales calls, speaking engagements, web conferences and oral proposal.
