Lexmark International, Inc. (NYSE: LXK) has long envisioned a future where forms and documents are viewed, distributed and stored electronically, then only printed on demand. Today Lexmark moved large enterprises a giant step closer to that e-workflow future with the introduction of the Lexmark Document Solutions Suite.

Designed to minimize the expense and inefficiencies of manual, paper-based processes that are costly and time-intensive, the Lexmark Document Solutions Suite integrates three distinct document solutions that empower users with comprehensive but easy-to-use electronic information-management tools.

The three software packages, which work separately or together as an integrated solution, include:

  • Document Distributor - the newest version of the powerful Document Distributor package helps improve a company’s information workflow by capturing and moving documents faster, more efficiently and more accurately into a broader range of network systems.
  • Document Producer - an e-forms solution that empowers customers to take control of the presentation and delivery of output from almost any host system and avoiding the costs of preprinted forms and host system changes.
  • Document Portal - enables a Lexmark multifunction printer (MFP) to find, view, fill and print network documents when customers need them, where they need them.

“Customers continually ask us to help them reduce paper, improve processes and move information through their business faster,” said Paul Rooke, Lexmark executive vice president and president of its Printing Solutions and Services Division. “Lexmark’s unique approach in this category is to leverage our innovative multifunction products with these software solutions to go well beyond basic print/copy/fax to now facilitate document workflow. We have been on the cutting edge of these capabilities for some time, and by announcing these software solutions today we have extended our leadership in helping customers take control of paper in their businesses.”

Lexmark Document Distributor
A customizable document distribution system for use with Lexmark multifunction printers, Lexmark Document Distributor automates manual processes to optimize paper and digital document workflow. Interoperability with the most common e-mail, fax and file-storage infrastructures means a company can leverage its current technology investments as part of its task automation process. By removing unneeded manual steps and using document barcode technology, businesses can remove many of the errors associated with current paper-handling tasks. Lexmark Document Distributor has a powerful but easy-to-use scripting engine, so it is fully customizable for any enterprise.

Lexmark Document Producer
Lexmark Document Producer enables customers to eliminate pre-printed forms and control the visual impact of host system documents. Easy-to-use form creation and editing tools allow the addition of custom logos, color images, barcodes and more -- while avoiding expensive programming changes to existing systems. Standard electronic distribution features, such as e-mail, fax, and archive, help reduce dependencies on paper. Integration with Lexmark Document Distributor offers almost endless document processing and destination possibilities.

Lexmark Document Portal
Lexmark Document Portal extends the capabilities of Lexmark’s X620eX750e, and X820e  MFPs by allowing easy selection, preview, print and distribution of electronic documents without using a PC. The software helps eliminate the expense and complication of pre-printed forms. Brochures, forms and other documents are centrally stored and managed at the Document Portal Server using the industry’s leading document format, PDF. These documents are then easily accessed at the MFP touch screen in order to quickly find and print the documents needed. Used in conjunction with Lexmark Document Producer and Document Distributor, documents can be automatically completed, routed and archived.

“Our exclusive focus on printing solutions and our customers’ paper-based processes results in our unique understanding of customers’ document needs and the ability to quickly deliver solutions that address those needs,” continued Rooke. “The innovations in the Lexmark Document Solutions Suite were developed by analyzing the processes and needs of our customers, enabling Lexmark to create powerful, customized solutions.”
