Independent product reviewers are praising Lexmark’s (NYSE: LXK) family of color laser printers with unique Color Care Technology as some of the best printers on the market.

“Lexmark’s significant investment in color development has produced an exceptional family of high-quality color laser products, recognized as best in class in the industry by influential publications and their reviewers,” said Paul Rooke, Lexmark executive vice president and president of its Printing Solutions and Services Division. “Our customers and channel partners can expect optimal performance, quality and paper-handling at a very affordable price. Lexmark’s unique Color Care Technology, a wide range of cost-saving color management tools, is helping businesses to bring the power of color printing to their offices while keeping costs extremely competitive with traditional monochrome laser printers.”

Recent winners include:

  • Lexmark C510, a color laser printer providing the perfect blend of cost and performance for the small to medium office environment. Producing up to 30 pages per minute (ppm) in black, and up to 8 ppm in color, the Lexmark C510 is a solid business performer capable of helping companies save up to 75 percent compared to outsource printing services.
  • Lexmark C760, a color laser printer featuring Lexmark’s high-resolution 4800 CQ technology and advanced single-pass technology producing beautiful color and black prints at up to 25 ppm.
  • Lexmark C762, a speedy single–pass color laser printer capable of being upgraded with multifunction capabilities to allow for color scanning, copying, scan to e-mail and faxing in addition to advanced paper-handling and finishing options.
  • Lexmark X762e, a color multifunction device that features Lexmark’s advanced e-Task interface, an intuitive, easy-to-use color touch-screen display. The award-winning e-Task interface allows users to easily transfer documents back and forth between hardcopy and electronic formats for efficient, effective and economical improvements to virtually all paper-based processes.

In a recent issue, Government Computer News (GCN) rated color laser devices from the six largest printer companies. The Lexmark C760n received a “Reviewer’s Choice” designation and was one of only two units to receive an “A” grade, with the other “A” going to a unit that sells for more than twice as much as Lexmark’s model. In the accompanying narrative, GCN praised the Lexmark unit’s print quality and “blazing” speed, adding, “…the Lexmark C760n won’t disappoint. We also found it among the easiest printers to set up. Agencies will want to consider it for its overall quality and reasonable price.”

The GCN conclusion is not an anomaly. Lexmark’s latest color laser printers – the C760, the C762 and the multifunction X762e – have been picking up accolades at a brisk pace from a wide variety of award-bestowing organizations. In just the past few weeks in the United States alone, for example, Lexmark’s color technology has won 11 awards, including:

  • designations from CNet for the Lexmark C510 Series as an “Editors’ Top Pick for Color Laser” and the C762n as “Editors’ Top Pick for Color Laser” and “Editors’ Top Pick for Office Laser” (twice),
  • a “Highly Reliable” and “Recommended” rating from Buyer’s Lab for the Lexmark C762n, and
  • PC World ranked the C762 as a Best Buy.

This continues the momentum begun last year. Among the dozens of awards Lexmark received in the United States in 2004 for its color laser printers, the Lexmark C510 was named “Best Laser/Solid Ink Printer of the Year” by Computer Reseller News, acclaimed as the Editor’s Choice for the personal color laser printer from PC Magazine, and was hailed as one of the “Top 100 Products of 2004” by Computer Shopper.
