Lexmark International, Inc. (NYSE: LXK) today introduced the Lexmark W840, a monochrome laser printer that brings high-volume functionality and versatility to customers who need speed, productivity and advanced document finishing for wide-format applications.

The powerful 625 MHz processor and 256 MB of standard memory enable the Lexmark W840 to print at up to 50 letter size pages per minute with a time to first page of as little as seven seconds. Its duty cycle of up to 300,000 pages per month make it rugged enough for the most demanding environments.

“There are a wide range of business disciplines, such as computer-aided design and manufacturing, where wide-format printing is a requirement but high performance used to be only a luxury,” said Paul Rooke, Lexmark executive vice president and president of its Printing Solutions and Services Division. “With the Lexmark W840, high performance is now standard in wide-format printing thanks to the exceptional quality, speed and durability of this printer.”

Ease of Use
The Lexmark W840 features an innovative user interface that is also available on the Lexmark T640, T642, T644 and C920 introduced by Lexmark today. The intuitive, customizable display provides outstanding ease-of-use with on-screen graphics that help with simple printing tasks.  With “show me” screens that illustrate an area needing intervention and “tell me more” screens that walk users through specific adjustments, the operator panel helps customers help themselves and reduce the need for technical support.

Flexibility
Internet bookmark printing, a standard feature of the Lexmark W840 network printer, allows users at the printer to easily select and print documents like benefit forms, training manuals and Web pages directly from the Internet without using a computer. Even documents with more than 200 pages are easily handled with the Lexmark W840’s optional duplex and advanced finishing capabilities. There is also a convenient USB Direct interface at the operator panel that allows the user to print PDF files directly from flash memory devices.

The Lexmark W840 can be configured with a wide range of value-added capabilities. Drawers can be added to raise the paper input capacity to 5,100 sheets, and an optional finisher can raise the output capacity to 3,750. Finishers can also be added to provide multi-position stapling, offset printing, duplexing and hole-punching – including the new two-hole punch at the top that is tailored for healthcare applications.

Pricing and availability
The estimated street price for the base model is $2,299 and $2,899 for the networked model.  For a full listing of authorized Lexmark solution providers, visit www.lexmark.com/US/enterpriseprinting/
