The United States Social Security Administration (SSA), has selected Lexmark International Inc. (NYSE: LXK) to overhaul SSA print services and help manage documents more quickly and cost effectively.

To help modernize the SSA's global printing capacity, Lexmark will provide up to 39,000 monochrome and color laser printing devices for more than 1,500 SSA field offices and state facilities across the country and around the world. The agreement also provides for Lexmark to provide warranty, service and toner maintenance for the substantial SSA network for the next five years.

Lexmark was determined to be the lowest cost alternative on the basis of an evaluation criteria that considered technical performance, product value, evaluation testing, price, and compliance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.

“We listened to their requirements and designed a solution that satisfied the government’s needs today and into the future,” said Paul Rooke, president of Lexmark’s Printing Services & Solutions Division.

The Lexmark T630T632T634 monochrome laser printers and the Lexmark C752 color laser printers will cut costs and offer the most up-to-date features available in the market.  Each device has been designed with the user in mind, so they are easy to operate and fully accessible for all employees, including those who are physically disabled, hearing or visually impaired.

“Lexmark is proud to partner with the Social Security Administration as the SSA enters a decisive and challenging period in its history,” said Rooke. “Building on this agreement, Lexmark looks forward to helping the SSA expand and improve its entire document management system in the future.”
