BERTL and Buyers Laboratory, two independent testing labs which provide comparative reviews of digital imaging equipment, have awarded superior ratings to the Lexmark W840, a high-speed monochrome laser printer designed for demanding printing environments, including those which require wide-format printing.

Four Stars from BERTL
BERTL named the Lexmark W840 a four-star award winner, giving it a “Highly Recommended” rating.

“The W840 was launched as part of Lexmark’s ‘print less’ strategy. Despite Lexmark’s marketing message, the attention to detail, user interface and unique selling features make this a printer that may make you want to print more not less," BERTL said. Among the many buyer benefits cited by BERTL were the ability to walk up to the printer and print directly from a portable flash or thumb drive; “bookmark” printing, which lets users select and print documents directly from the Internet without using a computer; and ease of installation and maintenance.

Buyers Lab “Highly Recommended”
The Lexmark W840dn has received a “Highly Recommended” citation from Buyers Lab, its highest rating. The W840dn is a network-ready version equipped with a duplex unit for two-sided printing.

“In addition to its very good reliability performance, the W840dn, which accommodates up to 11-inch by 17-inch paper, provides high quality output at a very competitive price. Printing at 1200 x 1200 dots per inch resolution at rated engine speed, the W840dn produced excellent output,” Buyers Lab said. 

Equipped with a powerful 625 MHz processor and 256 MB of standard memory, the Lexmark W840 printers print at up to 50 letter size pages per minute with a time to first page of as little as 7 seconds. Pricing for the base model starts at $2,299.
