Over a thousand pounds has been raised for the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire & Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust (BBOWT) charity by local printer company, Lexmark International.
The money raised will be used to help manage the Trust's local nature reserves. The countryside is under increasing pressure from development, pollution and modern farming methods. Nature reserves provide havens for threatened wildlife and are tranquil places for people to enjoy. One such example is Homefield Wood (2½ miles west of Marlow) which is home to wildlife such as the rare military orchid and over 400 species of moth.
Hannah Hickman, BBOWT's Fundraising Manager said, "Support from locally based businesses like Lexmark allows BBOWT to fund species recovery projects, manage our nature reserves for wildlife and organise fundraising events. Our Corporate Membership Scheme has made a vitally important contribution to wildlife conservation across Berks, Bucks and Oxon."
BBOWT was founded in 1959 and is one of 47 Wildlife Trusts across the UK. BBOWT currently has 90 nature reserves across Bucks, Berks & Oxon to protect the natural heritage of the local regions.
“We are very proud to have been awarded a silver partner of BBOWT. ” Said Giovanni Giusti, General Manager, Lexmark UK. “This enables us to demonstrate our long term commitment to wildlife conservation and the environment.”
