Lexmark introduces powerful combination of colour and convergence with new colour lasers
Lexmark-developed technological innovations provide superior performance and quality in colour output

Marlow, United Kingdom - 18/10/2004

The next generation of colour laser printing technology is manifested in three products unveiled today by Lexmark International, the leading global provider of printing solutions.

The Lexmark C760, the Lexmark C762 and the Lexmark X762e multifunction product (MFP) are powerful workgroup devices with outstanding performance, print quality and flexibility. The products have been designed for today and tomorrow’s needs, providing customers investment protection by offering a path to multifunction capability.

The combination of high speed colour output and a low-cost path to multifunction colour has resulted in a most compelling value proposition in the colour market today,” said Giovanni Giusti, Managing Director, Lexmark UK. “Workgroups can use this extremely reliable technology for their most demanding colour jobs, and administrators will be amazed by the ease of use and low cost of ownership.”

Powerful Performance
The new products feature single-pass technology and can print up to 25 pages per minute (letter size paper) in both monochrome and colour. With a time to first print on colour prints of as little as 15 seconds, print jobs can be completed efficiently and the 600 MHz controller quickly processes large and complex colour applications.

High Resolution Print Quality
At the heart of these new products is 4800 Colour Quality resolution, exclusive Lexmark technology that automatically adjusts dot size and shape simultaneously. This unique technology delivers sharp colour for both images and business graphics. Pantone calibration complements this technology to deliver the consistent and accurate colours that customers expect.

High Reliability and Low Operating Costs
The new Lexmark products are the only colour laser devices rated for 1 million pages with proper maintenance, and the 100,000-page maximum monthly duty cycle of the C762 can easily accommodate high-volume printing environments. The high-yield 15,000 page toner cartridges significantly reduce costly interventions and offer a monochrome cost of printing that is equal to today’s workgroup monochrome lasers.

New Colour Solutions
The new products have been designed to support two colour applications that many businesses have been requesting in a product they can purchase and use internally to reduce costs, banner printing and outdoor signage.

The products can print up to 36” long banners on demand, providing a much more affordable solution for signage in small- and medium sized businesses. The products can also produce low-cost outdoor signage for retail stores and other commercial enterprises that will stay vibrant even in hostile environments. This is made possible by a unique Lexmark toner, which resists fading, and the use of new weather resistant media.

Lexmark C760 and C762
Both of the new colour printers introduced today feature the 4800 CQ technology and produce pages at up to 25 ppm in both colour and monochrome. The Lexmark C762 has a price indication of  £1,049 and can be upgraded after purchase to a multifunction device with the addition of the Lexmark X4500 colour scanner. The Lexmark C760 is targeted for dedicated printing applications and is expected to sell for £779

To help customers control usage and reduce printing costs, both printers come with Lexmark’s unique ColourCare technology that provides a variety of cost-saving colour management tools.  The newest addition is Colour Print Permissions, a feature which allows administrators to control colour printing costs by identifying authorised users.

Lexmark X762e
The Lexmark X762e delivers a most compelling value proposition by offering the performance and functionality of a larger departmental device at a fraction of the cost.  The power of the Lexmark X762e starts with the e-Task interface, an intuitive, easy to use, colour touch-screen display. The award-winning e-Task interface allows first-time users to easily transfer documents back and forth between hardcopy and electronic formats for efficient, effective and economical improvements to virtually all paper-based processes. Coupled with Lexmark Document Solutions Suite, customised workflow solutions can be initiated with the touch of a button.

Just as the new colour lasers can control colour printing, the Lexmark X762e can restrict colour copying while still allowing users to make monochrome copies.  The Lexmark X762e comes network-ready with two 500-sheet paper trays, a duplex unit, and the high-performance Lexmark X4500 colour scanner.  The Lexmark X762e has a price indication of  £4,599, and, like the Lexmark C760 and C762, is available from the 18th October.
