Lexmark unveils new pricing strategy: "less is officially more"
Lexmark defies pricing rules set by the market leader

Marlow, UK - 22/05/2000
In a move to dominate the enterprise printing market, Lexmark today unveiled its new pricing strategy that will set the pace for the industry, completely over-ruling the price-productivity standard set by the market leader. The company introduced this through the launch of seven new monochrome, colour and connectivity products.

Through these products, Lexmark has achieved an optimum price-productivity balance for its product offerings. Customers will experience significant gains as compared to the offering of the market leader. Lexmark's products offer enhanced features and performance with prices at par or lower than those of the market leader.

All the following products launched are endowed with significant cost reduction and feature enhancements:

  • Optra T614 -  at a list price of £989, this monochrome laser printer gives exceptional value at 25 ppm compared to only 17 ppm by the market leader
  • Optra M412 - for the same features as those offered by the market leader?s product, this monochrome laser printer is priced 30% lower at £699
  • Optra E312 - at the same list price of £310, this compact laser printer offers twice as much memory, 2 ppm increase in print speed and a three second faster time to first page, than the market leader
  • Optra C710 - is the first 1200x1200 dpi colour laser printer for the price of £1499
  • MarkVision for Intranets v 5.6 - has been enhanced to feature new remote management capabilities across the enterprise via the web
  • Network Plug and Print v 4.0 - a tool that installs new devices automatically after they have been connected to the Windows NT 4.0 and 2000 network
  • Windows Installer Enhancement - allows IT staff to deploy software upgrades across the entire enterprise at the click of a button

Commented Graham Salmons, Marketing Director of Lexmark?s Business Products Division, "We are the number two laser printer manufacturer in the world and hence are in a good position to redefine the pricing rules set by the market leader. These new products are as much a strategic advance for Lexmark as they are a great value for the customer."

Availability
All the products will be available from May 2000, through Lexmark's preferred partners.
