Lexmark forges strategic alliance with Kofax and Headway to pioneer future of Document Management

Marlow, UK - 07/11/2002

Lexmark International, the printer manufacturer, has joined forces with Kofax, a leader in the imaging, workflow and document management industries, and Headway, one of the UK’s main distributors of document management system peripherals, to promote the benefits of distributing scanning as part of an effective Document Management Strategy (DMS).

The alliance will host two major seminars and workshops for customers and resellers, with a particular relevance to the financial and insurance industries, in London and Bristol on 12 and 14 November 2002 respectively.  The programme will focus on new strategies for document capture, and how organisations can reduce cost, improve productivity and improve customer service through accelerating business processes.

Lexmark recognised early on the importance of distributed scanning, and has created a range of multi-function devices that combine fast processing speeds with simple operation and outstanding price, enabling organisations to bring new performance levels to all document scanning tasks.

Kofax develops and markets products designed to manage the scanning of electronic and paper documents into electronic information, which is then introduced into workflow systems, content and document management systems, and storage and retrieval systems.

The relationship between Lexmark and Kofax has led to the integration of Lexmark’s networked multifunction systems with Kofax’s Ascent Capture 5 electronic document capture application, to enable the easy selection, scanning and indexing of documents, as well as the automatic emailing, faxing or printing of documents to other destinations.

Headway Technology is a specialist distributor in the document management and information management market, selling 75% of all scanners in the UK.  Headway sources only the ‘Best of Breed’ products to meet the demanding requirements of mission critical application.  They have selected Lexmark’s multifunction printers for distribution in the DMS market.  Lexmark is the only printer company with whom they are working in terms of distributing these multi-function printer-based devices.

Jane Cronin, SMB Director of Lexmark UK commented: “Together, Lexmark, Kofax and Headway are enabling organisations to distribute network scanning throughout the business.  This allows customers to reduce the cycle times of mission critical business transactions by capturing documents sooner, more conveniently and economically than traditional centralised scanning environments.”
