Overview

Exemplary citizenship is a key component of the Lexmark vision and values. We are responsible to the communities where our employees live and work. Lexmark's commitment to the local, national and global communities is visible in its contributions of financial, equipment and volunteer support to organizations working to help meet the challenges and needs of modern society. We believe that responsible corporate citizenship is good business, and we apply the same standards of excellence to our contributions and community support activities that we demonstrate in our business practices.

The primary focus of our U.S. charitable giving program is employee volunteerism and educational excellence specifically in the areas of math, science and technology. Lexmark contributes to schools and not-for-profit organizations that have tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code. Lexmark will begin accepting applications online in January 2006.

Restrictions
Lexmark's charitable giving program does not include contributions or in-kind gifts to:

  • organizations that practice discrimination by race, color, creed, sex, age, sexual orientation or national origin
  • individuals (scholarships, stipends, fellowships, travel, etc.)
  • political, labor, fraternal, churches or other religious organizations
  • athletic teams or sporting events
  • recreational programs
  • sponsorship of performances, charitable or fund-raising events (dinners, races, walk-a-thons, etc.)
  • organizations run out of private homes

In addition, the following stipulations apply:

  • Lexmark does not donate ink or toner cartridge supplies to meet ongoing needs.
  • Limited resources are available for capital campaign or endowment fund requests.
  • We do not encourage annual repeat requests.

Lexmark may at any time amend, suspend or discontinue any of its corporate giving programs.

If your organization meets these requirements, we encourage you to submit your request.

Equipment donations
Requests for donations of new and used printers to qualified not-for-profit organizations will be considered on an ongoing basis. Priority is given to organizations in which Lexmark employees serve as volunteers. While Lexmark seeks to assist not-for-profits with their technology needs, it is not possible to donate all the printers required by an organization. Periodically, used printers in good working order become available for donation. Please specify in your request if your organization will accept used equipment.

Printers may also be requested for donation to fundraising auctions or events sponsored by qualified not-for-profit organizations.

Organizations can receive no more than one donation per calendar year. All used equipment is given on an as-is basis with no warranty.

Please be patient
Lexmark's charitable contribution decisions are made periodically throughout the year. The request and review process for capital and other major gifts can take up to six months. Requests should be received no later than July 1 to ensure funding consideration in the following calendar year. Organizations receiving funding are required to share their progress and evaluation information with Lexmark through written status reports.
