Work-life balance continues to be a priority for Lexmark. With busy work schedules and lives, it can be difficult for people to find the extra hours to volunteer their time and talents to organizations they feel strongly about. Lexmark’s unique Volunteer Time Off Program addresses that problem with up to three days of paid time off a year for volunteer work. In 2004, this program generated 3,400 hours of volunteer work for more than 150 organizations and schools in the United States.
Lexmark Make It Happen Fund encourages volunteerism by making it possible for employees to help financially support their favorite charities. Employees who volunteer a minimum of 40 hours a year with an organization qualify for a cash grant to that organization or school.
Volunteers must be current, U.S.-based, regular Lexmark employees. Organizations that fall within the following categories qualify for consideration of a grant through the Lexmark Make it Happen Fund Grant:
-
Schools - properly accredited education institutions, including public or private elementary, middle or high schools; located in the United States and recognized as tax-exempt under the Internal Revenue Code.
-
Community service organizations - not-for-profit organizations that provide services to the community (subject to Lexmark's stated restrictions) and that are classified as tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Corporate giving restrictions also apply to the Make It Happen Fund.
