Color cartridge

26 or 27

Right

Black cartridge

16 or 17

Note: You can print using only the color cartridge, or with both a color cartridge and a black cartridge.

For information about ordering supplies, see Ordering supplies.

Before you install new or replacement print cartridges, remove the used cartridges.

Removing a used cartridge

  1. Make sure the All-In-One is on.
  2. Lift the scanner unit until the scanner support keeps it open.

The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position unless the All-In-One is busy.

  1. Squeeze the tab on the cartridge lid, and then lift the lid.

  2. Remove the old cartridge. Store used cartridges in an air-tight container or dispose of them.

Installing a print cartridge

  1. If you are installing a new cartridge, remove the sticker and transparent tape from the back and bottom of the cartridge.

Note: Only a color cartridge may have been shipped with your All-In-One. Install a black print cartridge for optimum print quality.

Warning: Do not touch the gold contact area on the cartridges.

  1. Insert the color cartridge in the left carrier. Insert the black cartridge in the right carrier.

Note: To extend the life of your color cartridge and improve printing speed, install a black cartridge along with the color cartridge.

  1. Snap the lid closed.

  2. Lift the scanner unit and push the scanner support back while lowering the scanner unit until it is completely closed.

Note: The front cover must be closed to start a new scan, print, copy, or fax job.

Cleaning the scanner glass

  1. Dampen a clean, lint-free cloth.
