Error messages

Find the error message displayed on the control panel display or computer screen.

Error message or title

What it indicates

Solution

Ink low

The print cartridge is running out of ink. The Ink Low warning occurs when the cartridges are about 25% full, 12% full, and 5% full.

Replace the print cartridge. For more information, see Removing a used cartridge and Installing the print cartridges.

Paper jam

There is a paper jam.

Clear the paper jam. For more information, see Jams and misfeeds.

Paper out

The All-In-One is out of paper.

  • Load more paper. Press Select to load the paper and continue printing.
  • Press Stop/Clear on the control panel to cancel printing. Load paper, and then resume the print job.

No computer

The All-In-One is not connected to a computer, or the computer is off when one of the start buttons (Color and Black) is pressed in Scan mode.

Ensure your computer is connected and turned on.

Carrier Jam

There is a cartridge carrier jam.

  • Clear the carrier jam.
  • Press Select to continue.

Cartridge Error

Print cartridges are inserted in the wrong carrier.

Insert print cartridges in the correct carrier. If you are installing a black or photo cartridge, insert it in the left carrier. If you are installing a color cartridge, insert it in the right carrier.For more information, see Installing the print cartridges.

Alignment Error

The transparent tape is still on the cartridge nozzles.

  • Ensure the transparent tape is removed from both cartridges.
  • Press Select to retry alignment.

Photo mode

A memory card is not inserted correctly or is damaged.

Ensure the card is inserted correctly and is not damaged.

A second memory card is inserted.

Remove the second memory card since only one is allowed.

While in Photo mode, a memory card with no images is inserted.

Use a memory card with images stored on it.

DPOF Error

While in a DPOF print job, the requested image size is larger than the blank paper size.

Press Select to select a new blank paper size, or press Stop/Clear to cancel the current DPOF print job.

Size Warning

In Photo mode, resized image is larger than the selected blank paper size.

Press Select. Choose the appropriate blank paper size.

In Photo mode, image selected is larger than the selected blank paper size.

Press Select. Choose the appropriate blank paper size.

Blank paper size selected is too small for one of image already selected.

Press Select. Choose the appropriate blank paper size.

Cartridge missing

No cartridge present in the cartridge carrier.

Install a print cartridge. For more information, see Installing the print cartridges.

Card format

In Photo mode, memory card inserted has incorrect or unsupported format.

Insert a memory card with a correct or supported format. For more information, see Memory card reader.

Unsupported device

In Photo mode, an unsupported device is attached to the DPS port.

Disconnect the device.

Warning

A paper other than a plain one was loaded when alignment was initiated.

Load plain paper. For more information, see Loading paper.

Disk is full

The scanned image has taken a large amount of system memory.

  • As you scan, pay attention to the file size display on the Scan dialog to monitor file size.
  • Close all unused documents and applications.
  • Delete old scans or files that you no longer need to free up disk space.
  • Consider purchasing a larger hard disk drive.

File is too large

You have exceeded the amount of data a scan file can hold.

The All-In-One can scan up to 19200 dpi, so it is possible to exceed the amount of data a file can hold. If you receive this error, you must reduce the resolution, color depth, or crop area. Adjust the settings in the Scan dialog.

Out of memory

The scanned image has taken a large amount of system memory.

  • Close all unused documents and applications.
  • Consider purchasing more memory for the computer. This can significantly improve scanning and overall system performance.
