The following section gives you basic faxing information.
Note: DSL (digital subscriber line), ISDN (integrated services digital network) and cable modems are not fax modems and are not supported.
Send a fax
The following steps lead you through sending a fax using the computer modem.
- Load the document face down on the scanner glass. For help, see Loading a document on the scanner glass.
- Open the Lexmark Imaging Studio. For help, see Using the Lexmark Imaging Studio.
- Click the Fax button.
The Fax dialog appears.
- Click Scan and send a fax.
The All-In-One Center appears.
- Click Preview Now in the upper right corner of the All-In-One Center.
An image of the scanned item appears in the preview section.
- Click and drag the dotted line box to select a specific area of the preview image to fax.
- Select fax settings.
- Click Next.
- Follow the instructions on the computer screen to complete the task.
Receiving a fax
- Open the Lexmark Imaging Studio. For help, see Using the Lexmark Imaging Studio.
- Click the Fax button.
The Fax dialog appears.
- Click Receive a fax or view settings/history.
The fax software opens.
Note: Faxes can only be received when the fax software is open.
- Once a fax is received, you can double-click the fax in the status window to view it. Click the printer icon to print the fax.
If you want to always print faxes as they come in, select Print Incoming Faxes.
