Turn off the lights during Earth Hour
and help fight climate change!
Saturday, March 29th, 8 p.m.
As part of our ongoing commitment to the environment, I am pleased to announce that Lexmark Canada is supporting Earth Hour.
Please join Lexmark Canada employees coast to coast and millions of people across six continents as we all turn out our lights for one hour – Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 8 p.m. – united in our fight against climate change.
This marks the first year that Earth Hour is happening on a global scale. Founded last year by the World Wildlife Fund-Australia, over two million “Sydneysiders” turned off their lights for one hour. In that time, they reduced electricity consumption by 10% and saved 25,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide – the equivalent of taking about 50,000 cars off the road for an hour!
Be part of history!
Over the last year, momentum has gathered speed and word has spread throughout the international community. In Canada, Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto plus a dozen other cities will participate and demonstrate that by working together, we can make a difference.
One hour. Sixty minutes. Thirty-six-hundred seconds. No matter how you quantify it, it’s a small amount of time to make a big statement. Plus, it’s easy to do – just turn off your lights.
Enjoy a candle-lit dinner; play a board game camping-style (via candlelight or flashlight); or take a nap – it’s up to you. The truth is it’s up to us all to make a difference. Here’s how to get started:
Together, we can fight climate change. One hour at a time.
