Having a garage sale is a great way to recycle items you no longer use and make a little money at the same time.
Here are some helpful sales materials that you can customize and print on your Lexmark printer. We invite you to download any of the following for use at your garage sale:
Garage sale preparation tips
A few weeks before the sale:
- Check in with your neighbors – perhaps they are interested in having a multi-family garage sale!
- Begin sorting through the items you are selling, and arrange like items together. (kitchen items, books, clothing, shoes, toys, etc.)
A couple weeks before the sale:
- Contact the local paper about placing a short advertisement.
- Click on the link above to create and print signs indicating time and place of the sale, and an overview of what you’re selling. Post on community bulletin boards at places like your local library, grocery store, or gym.
- Begin putting price tags on the items for sale.
A week before the sale:
- Prepare signs to be put up the night before the sale.
- Gather as many tables available as possible to place items for sale on.
- Have at least $30 in small bills and coins for change.
Day of sale:
- Make sure you get up early to prepare…expect customers to arrive before the sale starts!
Don’t forget to donate any items that you don’t sell to a local charity. Good luck!
