Environment

Protecting the Environment is Part of Our Nature
At Lexmark, our goal is to provide customers with the best printing solutions in the world – solutions that are also best for the environment. Our commitment starts at the top with our environmental policy and extends throughout our organisation with every product we envision, develop and produce.

It is a never-ending journey involving Lexmark's processes, product development, sourcing and manufacturing—and ultimately our customers and the way they use, reuse and cooperate in Lexmark's efforts to remanufacture and recycle our products.

These kinds of environmental efforts are part of the global concept of “sustainable development.” At Lexmark, we simply think that protecting the environment is the right thing to do. By the time you have finished reading this publication, I think it will be clear that:

1. Lexmark is proud of the environmental policy we have in place and excited about our plans to continually evolve our industry-leading environmental initiatives.
2. In 2003, millions of cartridges were returned to Lexmark for remanufacturing or recycling. As one of the world's largest remanufacturer and recycler of printer cartridges, Lexmark keeps millions of pounds of materials out of the solid waste stream.
3. Lexmark provides more choice to our customers to make it easier for them to return, reuse and recycle. That's good for the customer and beneficial for the environment.

I hope you'll take a moment to read about our hard work at http://environment.lexmark.com to stay apprised of our progress.

Sincerely,
Paul J. Curlander
Chairman and CEO

Lexmark is always working to expand our industry-leading environmental practices just as we're always working to improve the quality of our award-winning printers, supplies and services.
