Job Summary:

The Web Application Developer will support the web content development under Digital Marketing as a member of the global development team. The Application Developer is expected to tackle business problems and strike a balance in delivering good, scalable architecture and meeting business goals and deadlines. The application developer will follow best practices set by the senior team members and make suggestions and contributions to them.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Web Application Developer
    • Web developers are responsible for designing and developing websites and website applications. Using a variety of programming languages and web technologies, web developers manage site functionality, implement application features, and integrate security measures.
    • Collaborate and work with the WW Digital Marketing team & Content and Design designers, project managers, and developers to develop web content for demand generation, ecommerce and other areas.
    • Manage more than one project at a time, allocating relevant amount of time according to business priorities, rearranging project work when necessary.
    • Work closely with WW Digital Marketing & Global Development Team in executing projects according to identified timelines.
    • Being part of a Global Team, the Web Application Developer will participate in regular status calls, weekly meetings & collaboration sessions scheduled between 8:00 AM and noon EST.
    • Keep WW Digital Marketing team, WW project managers and/or Global Development Team apprised of project status, sending out appropriate notifications if a project or program is at risk and when more information is required to complete the task. Provide ample time to relay status or schedule changes back to them.
    • Also work with Marcom Cebu design team on select projects and initiatives.
    • Manage timeliness and final deliverable expectations independently.
    • Engage with all work-related contacts in a professional and respectful manner. Keep an open mind and be willing to listen to constructive criticism and/or critical feedback.
    • Ensure that all work related to projects is properly filed, managed and archived following best practices.
  • Quality Control
    • Ensures that end-users get a functional user interface and the best user experience when using the web app or website.
    • When testing his/her design, the Web Developer checks whether the look and feel of the web app or website are in line with the proposed design and overall layout.
    • Execute work in adherence to established brand guidelines across multiple media and web apps.

Education, Experience and Certifications Basic Requirements:

  • Graduate of IT or Technology-related 4-year course.
  • Minimum of 2 years job-related work experience.
  • Supplementary training is advantageous but not required.
  • A well-rounded Front-end and Back-end developer is a plus. However, Front-End experience with AEM is a plus.
  • Experience creating PWA App is a plus.
  • Experience migrating from ClassicUI to TouchUI is a plus.
  • Work experience with Content Fragments, Experience Fragment is a plus.
  • Experience using Code version control like SVN and GitHub.
  • Open to work different shifts (preferably mid shift).

Competencies, Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • The Web Application Developer needs to understand Application Web Architecture
  • Knowledge of standard hosting platforms like Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS), and good working knowledge of several web technologies:
    • Javascript
    • CSS
    • HTML
    • JAVA/J2EE
    • Database experience MySQL, SQL Server and/or Oracle
  • Must have the ability to create layouts using advanced and semantic HTML5 and CSS3, as well as previous HTML and CSS specs.
  • Should have extensive knowledge of DOM scripting with native JavaScript and JS libraries such as jQuery, Node.js.
  • A strong understanding of JavaScript performance optimization techniques is a must.
  • Should have extensive use of APIs and a strong understanding of HTTP and GraphQL architecture.
  • A well-rounded Front-end and Back-end developer is a plus. However, Front-End experience with AEM is a plus.
  • Superior command of the English language in written and oral communications.
