Portfolio Manager

The portfolio manager is responsible for the commercial success of a product portfolio and will own a segment or multiple segments of the portfolio strategy as well as execution from inception through design, build, launch, growth, enhancement and eventual sunset. 


  • Establish the vision and strategy for the product portfolio for which he or she is responsible, communicate that vision and strategy across the organization, own the product lifecycle
  • Determine market opportunity and program share and/or volume objectives
  • Drive customer-focused innovation, and provide guidance and oversight for market and customer research to gather insight and understand user personas and needs
  • Oversee the gathering of competitive intelligence and perform competitive analysis
  • Responsible for defining, prioritizing and documenting product requirements, user stories and artifacts to support the product development process
  • Oversee and provide input into the process for creating, documenting and communicating product roadmaps
  • Coordinate with product development management on the product development process and technical resource allocation
  • Oversee or lead work to create pricing models and facilitate pricing decisions, or work with a central pricing team
  • Oversee activities to ensure that new offerings include the desired capabilities and launch on time and within budget
  • Coordinate with sales enablement relevant activities and deliverables (e.g. sales assets, competitive positioning, market requirements, launch plan)
  • Provide price positioning ownership at launch and during life of product
  • Ensure consistent approach to monitor product launch, market adoption, customer use and assemble customer feedback for iteration
  • Oversee and provide direction for the creation and presentation of business cases
  • Monitor and report on the performance of the product portfolio over which the role has purview
  • Sales support as required (e.g. make prospect/customer calls, provide sales enablement content, contribute to internal communities/blogs/portals) and directly participate in sales enablement
  • Anticipate and define future product program needs and oversee and enforce a consistent, objective process to prioritize and select product enhancements
  • Participate in identifying relevant partnerships with upstream and downstream partners as needed

  • Product lifecycle management
  • People management including the ability to build and grow a team and work with diverse skill sets and backgrounds (Role primarily matrix management requiring strong leadership and delegation skills)
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to adapt to audience needs
  • Strong presentation skills & executive presence
  • Strong administrative and management skills, including the ability to prioritize multiple projects, programs and objectives
  • Ability to navigate culture and politics globally and across multiple functions
  • Advanced degrees preferred

*Prefer to hire a candidate based in/commutable to Lexington, KY for proximity to Lexmark's corporate headquarters but we are open to a remote hire if a strong candidate is identified. Relocation assistance is available if a candidate wants to relocate to Lexington, KY for this position.
