Senior UX Researcher role

As a senior UX researcher, you could play an integral role in growing our user research process and our goal of promoting and executing Design Thinking across the business. As our team grows and matures to meet new and expanded business responsibilities, this role will help blaze a fresh path for user research at Lexmark by integrating UX research methodologies with existing development processes.

This person is responsible for providing answers to challenging and unexplored questions about our users with focus on cloud software, and emerging IoT offerings. This sophisticated researcher has broad and varied skills to comfortably conduct many types of research, gain credibility and trust across the business, and bridge user insights into actionable direction and communications. Their research insights will inform and assist user experience (UX) teammates as well as senior leadership across Lexmark. Their research work will also advocate for and ensure user delight by guiding insights for development of intuitive, accessible, and appropriate offering design.

What you will do:

  • Design methods and system to manage UX research efforts including qualitative and quantitative information from the scoping stage to delivery of final insights/recommendations such as: screening, user recruitment, guide/task development, interviewing, tool deployment, reporting documentation.
  • Occasionally work with and lead agency research on both qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Assess testing needs and implement varied methodologies to best fit insights needed (qualitative, quantitative, moderated/unmoderated, A/B testing, card sorts, heuristic evaluation, usability testing, tree testing, first-click, etc.
  • Partner with product leaders throughout product UX milestones and provide guidance on stimuli and best approaches to gather insights.
  • Work with concept testing at various phases of offer development (low to high fidelity, mature and emerging market concepts, varied user types and personas).
  • Deliver persuasive and compelling research findings to executive stakeholders and to UX team to bridge insights into actionable efforts.
  • Experience with UX/collaboration tools such as (UserZoom, HotJar, Lookback, Maze, User Testing, Treejack, Chalkmark, Optimal Workshop, Miro, Usability Hub, UserLytics, Calendly, Ethnio, etc.).

Skills needed for the goals ahead:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 5+ years of experience in research (ideally user research) with a fundamental understanding of UX design and design thinking methodology.
  • The ability to quickly identify how to investigate and answer product design questions with customer insights.
  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly craft research plans, generate research and documentation deliverables on schedule while meeting stakeholder expectations.
  • Experience designing, conducting and analyzing user research studies using a mixed method approach to gain customer understanding.
  • Ability to go deep into the details as warranted or provide a quick and targeted executive summary.  
  • Able to illuminate, define, and contribute to clear line-of-sight for user-centric insights and needs for translation into business action, UX design and overall empathy with our users.
  • Become the expert on the user problem, through research, testing and collecting insights, then create tangible and clear summaries to direct functional business actions to support users, testing hypotheses, and measuring success through UX metrics analysis.
  • Collaborate with and share out findings in a systematic way to global product stakeholders, product designers, marketing, other researchers, UX and VX designers and engineers to inform and provide directions to UX solutions and implementations across varied Lexmark offerings.
  • Develop standardized UX metrics as appropriate for repeated use and comparison over time for various projects across the broader team.
  • Previous experience with SAFe or Agile work environments with understanding of how to leverage Design Thinking theories and actual day-to-day tactics into those processes.
  • Data literacy and mindset which thrives solving problems creatively and effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability in managing multiple projects.
