Global Strategic Sourcing – Tactical Buyer - Indirect

The Global Sourcing Tactical Buyer is responsible for supporting and leading global, local and regional procurement initiatives either under the leadership of a regional/global category manager or independently under a defined set of categories, guidelines, and requirements. Purchase materials or services according to required specifications, price, and terms. Ensure purchasing activities align with corporate purchasing policies and procedures.

Position Responsibilities:

The objective of this position is to support global sourcing initiatives within a defined set of categories/commodities. The tactical buyer will ensure that category strategies get implemented in close collaboration with key stakeholders, SMEs, and other Global Sourcing commodity managers. The work will be mainly done in collaboration with other buyers under the supervision of a Global Category Manager and will include communication and development of project objectives with other key cross functional team members. 

Activities, as assigned, also include:

  • Supports the execution of regional/global sourcing strategies
  • Runs benchmark studies for the category team and for specific sourcing initiatives
  • Spend analysis for defined categories using Power BI and other tools/metrics
  • Consolidates demands/requirements from various countries
  • Supports the implementation of category strategies in close alignment with the regional/global Category leader
  • Sourcing Execution of request for quotation/proposal/information projects
  • Supports/maintains/abides by all regional/global sourcing initiatives and policy
  • Runs regional sourcing initiatives under a defined threshold and strategy
  • Creates local contracts, amendments, change orders, statements of work, etc. to frame agreements on behalf of a country or region or specific facility location
  • Updates/maintains all contract documentation
  • Supports all Global Sourcing supplier management and quality programs and standards
  • Onboard new suppliers in close collaboration with the respective Category Manager
  • Runs regular supplier evaluations
  • Helps develop contracts and contract negotiations
  • Support the use of SAP for daily purchasing activities as needed

Minimum Candidate Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in applicable business study program
  • 1-2 years procurement experience in equivalent industrial setting

Preferred Candidate skills/knowledge/experience:

  • Fluent in Microsoft Office and related programs
  • 3-5 years of procurement experience in an industrial/corporate environment
  • Ability to develop and influence optimized project and product strategies
  • Proven track record of cost savings
  • Contract management
