Data Architect - Transformation Services

The Transformation Solutions Data Architect will be responsible for designing, implementing, and testing the various solutions that create, leverage, and manage data within Lexmark IoT products. This role will be responsible for understanding the data strategy for the Lexmark IoT products and develop solutions that support and implement that strategy. This role will also be responsible for technical writing to document the tools, standards, methods, and governance that are confirmed to be a part of the final solution.


Role Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with product owners and technical leads to gain intimate knowledge of the products and objectives
  • Collaborate closely with product owners and technical leads to design solutions to data opportunities
  • Develop solutions in target technologies; namely Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Databricks, Synapse, and Power BI
  • Collaborate on the design and implement the Microsoft Common Data model in Lexmark IoT products
  • Implement batch and streaming data pipelines within an Enterprise Data Store
  • Implement reporting data pipelines for dashboards and reports
  • Develop code scripts to accelerate customer engagements
  • Perform technical writing to document the tools, standards, methods, and governance of data solutions
  • Implement the methods outlined in the aforementioned technical writing in internal and external projects
  • Manage and update epics and stories assigned for work in scope



Role Responsibilities

Understands different tools and can compare between different data models.  Can reverse-engineer a data model from a live system. Understands industry-recognized data-modelling patterns and standards.
  • Data analysis and synthesis. Translates data into valuable insights that inform decisions. Engages teams in analytics and synthesis to increase consensus and challenge assumptions. Is aware of and keeps up to date with advances in digital analytics tools and data manipulation products. Can collect, collate, cleanse, synthesize and interpret data to derive meaningful and actionable insights.
  • Data governance. Understands data governance and how it works in relation to other organizational governance structures.
  • Data standards. Can develop and set data standards for a technical ecosystem.
  • Strategic thinking (data architecture). Has an overall perspective on business issues, events and activities, and an understanding of their wider implications and long-term impact. This could include determining patterns, standards, policies, roadmaps and vision statements. Focuses on outcomes rather than solutions and activities.
  • Turning business problems into data design. Can work with business and technology stakeholders to translate business problems into data designs. You can create optimal designs through iterative processes, aligning user needs with organizational objectives and system requirements.
  • Visualization and Analytics. Can take raw data from a “raw or unformatted” format to a “cleaned, merged, consumable” format, using database tables/views that are easily analyzed in a visualization or dashboard context.



  • BS/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
  • 5 years of experience in data architecture 
  • 3 years of experience in cloud technologies 
  • Strong business and technical acumen
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
  • A highly motivated, self-directed individual who is tenacious in his/her approach, and approaches business in an energetic way
  • Superior interpersonal and leadership skills and the ability to win the confidence of individuals both within and outside of the organization
  • Domain knowledge in manufacturing a plus
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and generally accepted information availability principles
