As a producer of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE), Lexmark is committed to providing WEEE compliant products to the European markets since 2005. Lexmark International is responsible for the environmentally sound management of its products from the early stages of research and design until they reach the end of their useful life. We are committed to following strict company policy to promote environmentally responsible business practices. As we embrace the imposed WEEE Directive we ensure that our customers can return used products as quickly and easily as possible, offering a range of services to aid return, recovery and reuse.
As a manufacturer of electronic and electrical equipment (EEE), we are committed to registering all EEE we place onto the national market. In the majority of the European countries, we have joined a national collective scheme. These schemes provide the member companies a complete process from collection to recycling and reporting. This allows us to fulfill our obligations according to our market share.
All products with electronic content are labeled per WEEE specifications and are in accordance with the European Standard EN50419.
The following is the WEEE symbol:
The special «crossed out wheeled bin» symbol is placed on products to indicate that waste from electrical and electronic equipment must be returned to a designated collection point for waste electrical and electronic equipment recycling. In compliance with the Directive, Lexmark has launched a communication campaign to educate our employees, partners, and customers about WEEE recycling process. For our Fall 2012 products onward, WEEE manuals are available on the Lexmark Web site at Customer Support > Device Support. Search the model, and then click the Manuals tab.
For new B2B WEEE (manufactured after 13 August 2005), producers are responsible for financing the WEEE management. For this reason, Lexmark has chosen ICT - tuottajaosuuskunta - TY to transport the waste from our customer locations to ensure correct treatment and recycling.
