Configure a network printer

You can set the IP (Internet Protocol) address of a printer attached to a network either through a network interface (available on some specific printers), or through an optional external network adapter.

If the printer has been previously configured, it can be used without being reconfigured provided no one else is currently using that same IP address.

Note: You cannot configure your All-In-One as a network printer using the Advanced menu of the Lexmark 2200 Series Utility. Use Printer Sharing to configure your All-In-One to be shared by other users connected to your local area network. For help, see Networking.

To configure a network printer using the Printer Selection dialog:

  1. Open the Lexmark 2200 Series Utility.
  2. From the menu bar at the top of your screen, choose Advanced.
  3. Choose Select Printer. The Printer Selection dialog is displayed.
  4. Select your network capable printer from the list, and then click Configure. The Configure Network Printer dialog is displayed.
    1. Assign an IP (Internet Protocol) address to your network capable printer. Contact your network administrator for more information. If your network printer uses a network interface or a network adapter that supports DHCP, DHCP must be disabled.
    2. Click OK to go back to the Printer Selection dialog.
  5. Select your network printer from the list on the Printer Selection dialog.
