Add a remote network printer

A remote subnet is another network that is connected to your network. If your All-In-One is attached to a remote subnet instead of your network (local subnet), you must enter some information to help the software find the printer.

You can add your All-In-One to the network Printer Selection List through the Printer Selection dialog or the Network Printer Configuration dialog. Make sure that your All-In-One is already configured (assigned an IP address). Go to Assign an IP address.

To add a remote network printer from the Printer Selection dialog:

  1. Open the 5200 Series Utility.
  2. From the menu bar, choose Advanced to display the Advanced menu.
  3. Click Select Printer.
The Printer Selection dialog displays.
  1. Click Add Remote.
  2. From the Add Remote Printer dialog, you can:
    • Select Add Single Printer. Enter the IP address of the remote network printer. This adds just one configured printer to the list.
    • Select Search Subnet. Enter the IP address of the subnet. All the available printers on the subnet are added to the list.
  3. Click OK to go back to the Printer Selection dialog.
  4. Select your printer from the list on the Printer Selection dialog.
  5. Click Select.
  6. Continue on to Add your All-In-One to the Printer List.
