Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust implements Lexmark Managed Print Solution

Partnership recognised for excellence in Supplier Engagement by the NHS in the North Excellence in Supply Awards

Maidenhead, UK - 23rd October 2018

Lexmark International Inc., a global imaging solutions leader, has today announced that Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust (LWH) has implemented a smart Managed Print Services (MPS) solution. This new implementation has provided LWH with a fully managed print service and a new fleet of output devices, streamlining operational efficiencies and helping to control costs and promote sustainability.

As a specialist Trust for women and babies, among the 50,000 patients that pass through their doors each year, LWH delivers over 8,000 babies, cares for 1,000 babies on their Neonatal Unit, undertakes almost 10,000 gynaecological procedures, and carries out over 2,000 cycles of IVF. In an environment in which each day is different, LWH looked to Lexmark to review their existing printer and MFP fleet, and suggest and implement a solution to support their digital journey.

The five-year Lexmark smart Managed Print Services agreement has seen Lexmark install a mix of A4 and A3, colour, mono and multifunction devices. The solution has consolidated devices by over 30%, reducing 251 devices to 168 whilst providing a platform on which to drive continuous improvement and control.

"The Lexmark team were on hand to support us throughout the process and provide ideas and consultancy at every stage" commented Jaki Allen, Programme Director at Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust. "The system works well, and through robust governance and regular data analysis, Lexmark will make sure the programme continues to be a success."

Long term efficiency has been ensured as Lexmark MPS includes proactive consumable management for the replenishment of supplies and automated service reporting. LWH plans to use this project as a platform to adopt further "paper-light" initiatives through a modular approach.

This successful Lexmark implementation was recognised at the NHS in the North Excellence in Supply Awards where LWH won the Excellence in Supplier Engagement category. The awards aim to promote and celebrate private sector organisations working in partnership with the NHS to deliver high quality, effective and efficient patient care that supports its aim of delivering more for less.

"Lexmark has more than 25 years’ experience in manufacturing, managing and servicing millions of output devices globally, placing them in some of the most complex network environments and varied physical conditions," commented Martin Fairman, Managing Director, Lexmark International UK & Ireland. "We have adapted this experience to address the specific needs of the Healthcare sector, and that of the NHS, which continues to be faced with unprecedented financial and efficiency pressures. We take pride in the success of this partnership, and are delighted that the NHS in the North Excellence in Supply Awards recognised the engagement with the project at LWH. Our team will continue to work closely with LWH to deliver incremental gains in line with both their financial targets and digital roadmap as this develops."
