Coordinates and balances worldwide business unit/manufacturing needs in terms of customer service while simultaneously optimizing low inventories and delivery costs.  Manages the supply and demand activities for product(s) within or across business units.  Recommends strategies to maximize manufacturing effectiveness and business unit's competitive position.  Establishes long and short-term objectives to ensure that programs and efforts are directed toward achieving company goals. Identifies opportunities, frames problems, and drives resolution and continuous improvement.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

• Interface operationally between Lexmark HQ and various LXK suppliers. Translate LXK’s supply requirements for the factories and negotiate supply commitment from these factories. Participate in the weekly supply planning process that drives the factory to align supply with LXK’s demand.

 • Interface operationally between various LXK suppliers and LXK geographies. Communicate supply commitments and monitor supplier execution to these commitments.

• Provide logistics assistance at various stages of product life: new product intro support (component availability, export logistics, etc), steady-state, and end of life (component last-buy, scrap minimization).

• Monitor, track, and report the suppliers’ supply chain performance. Assist in identifying root causes to performance issues and help drive corrective actions.

• Assist supplier during critical factory production periods in finding supply-constrained components via own network of contacts (with LXK Asia, LXK WW, own knowledge of component distributors, etc).

• Proactively work on continuous improvement from process, keep end to end problem solving associated with lean planning strategy.

Communication Skills

Professional English.

• Must be capable of effectively communicating with various Asian suppliers on logistics/manufacturing/operations subject matters.

• Must have the propensity to proactively form productive relationships outside of the department (i.e. with various factory resources, with various component suppliers, with LXK WW, etc).

• Must be assertive and resourceful.

• Must be able to take direction from remote sources and respond quickly.

Education

• Bachelors degree required.

• Business degree preferred.

• Emphasis on Manufacturing, Operations, or Supply Chain & Logistics would be ideal.

Technical Skills

• Project management skill, eg. PMP, practical problem resolving, etc.

• Individual should have a basic understanding of manufacturing systems, processes, and terms. Examples would include: what MRP is and how it works;

• Individual should have a basic understanding of supply chain and logistics systems, processes, and terms. Examples would include: inventory management processes and techniques, Incoterms , lead time effects on the supply chain, replenishment systems, etc.

• Individual must have a basic understanding of purchasing processes and terms. Examples would include: purchase orders, payment terms, etc.

• Basic understanding of Chinese Import/Export regulations is required. • Individual must be proficient in Excel.

• Strong communication skills. Written and Verbal English

• Proactive. Takes initiative.
