Primary Responsibilities:

The person who fills this role will have ownership of and direct responsibility for the global income tax provision (U.S. GAAP, ASC 740) for the Lexmark group (NYSE: LXK), which is comprised of more than 100 legal entities.  This person will have the responsibility to ensure that all elements of the income tax provision are prepared accurately and in a timely manner throughout the year.  Some of the principal activities this person will perform in this role include:

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute the year-end and quarterly provision work for the Lexmark group;
  • Work with the company’s attest firm (currently PWC) to ensure the firm’s audit of the provision work is completed in a timely manner at year-end and at the quarter-points;
  • Work with the company’s external reporting personnel to prepare the SEC disclosures required for the company’s income tax accounting at year-end and at the quarter-points;
  • Prepare and/or oversee the return-to-provision calculations for all entities in the Lexmark group;
  • Prepare and/or oversee the income tax accounting impacts of acquisitions and any post-acquisition transactions to integrate businesses acquired by Lexmark;
  • Maintain and revise as necessary the global income tax accounting processes and procedures; and
  • Work with the company’s internal audit department to maintain proper internal control procedures.     


As time permits during the year, the person who fills this role may also be asked to provide a supporting role with other Tax Department activities, such as:

  • Preparing and/or reviewing the company’s U.S. Federal income tax return;
  • Responding to information document requests from the Internal Revenue Service during the course of the IRS’s audit of the company’s U.S. Federal income tax returns; or
  • Other activities as needed.


Education / Skills / Experience:


•  Bachelor’s degree or higher

•  Licensed as a certified public accountant

•  Experience using commercial income tax provision software (eg, Longview or Onesource products)

•  Prior training and experience with the U.S. GAAP income tax accounting rules (ASC 740), preferably for U.S. companies with international operations

•  Excellent leadership and communication skills

•  Ability to work with people from all areas of the company and from diverse cultural backgrounds

•  Ability to think creatively to complete tasks in a timely manner



•  Minimum of 5 years of experience relevant to the responsibilities of this position

•  Experience with acquisitions and post-acquisition integrations (eg, intra-group movements of stock and assets of the target group after an acquisition)

•  Experience using SAP

•  Knowledge of the income tax accounting rules under IFRS

•  Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and experience with the other Microsoft Office products

•  Experience preparing a U.S. corporate income tax return (Form 1120)

•  Experience dealing with the IRS, especially at the Exam level
