Hardware Operations Process Engineer

The Hardware Operations team is seeking a candidate to fill the role of Process Engineer for the HEM, LEC and A3 product lines. The candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and direction from an overall process standpoint as it pertains to assembly, test and Orion driven test processes at the Tier 1 contract manufacturer. In addition, the role provides global support to supply chain manufacturing with significant emphasis on quality processes and excursions related to new product development and current product manufacturing. Success requires working collaboratively across multiple organizational functions and geography´s. New product activity focuses on early involvement with development engineering to ensure proper design for manufacturing and quality techniques are utilized, while current product activity is focused on driving manufacturing continuous improvement, product improvements, and supply chain.

An individual with ME, EE, or QE background and strong project management skills will be an ideal fit. This position offers a wide range of exposure to various areas of the business and close collaboration within Product Delivery in addition to in-depth involvement in printer manufacturing.

Role responsibilities include:

  • Drive Design for Manufacturing and Design for Quality
  • Create and document test methodologies
  • Lexmark MFG standards and specs
  • Design and optimize test processes with Orion integration
  • Perform dry run testing in Lexington lab
  • Define safe launch plans and metrics
  • Lead and support efforts to drive manufacturing consistency and flexibility
  • Actively participate and/or lead cross functional meetings and activities
  • Review and consult on:
    • Assembly work instructions
    • Inspection of production level parts
    • Repair process optimization and process documentation/database
  • Provide training:
    • Print Quality assessment
    • Product Inspection definition and readiness
    • Test operator readiness
    • Provide ongoing mentoring and training to China factory team
  • Collaboratively develop and manage quality assurance metrics
  • Identify factory quality trends and facilitate improvements
  • Drive standardization of factory quality reporting
  • Develop new product specific quality plans
  • Provide manufacturing quality and process oversight
  • Provide corrective action guidance and oversight
  • Collaborate with CSE and Service to understand field issues and connections to manufacturing
  • Risk analysis
  • Initiate and manage product holds (product exited T1 factory)
  • Provide support for tier 1 factory rework activities
  • Coordinate and manage global reworks
