Process Engineer - Hardware Operations

The Hardware Operations team is seeking a candidate to fill the role of Process Engineer for the MRC, HEC, MRM product lines.  The candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and direction from an overall process standpoint as it pertains to assembly, test, and packaging processes at the Tier1 contract manufacturer.  In addition, the role provides global support to supply chain manufacturing with significant emphasis on assembly processes related to new product development and current product manufacturing.  

 

Roles and responsibilities: 

  • Influence Design for Manufacturing (DFMA) and Lean manufacturing processes
  • Evaluate and expand opportunities for automation and error proofing
  • Ensure product EC implementation for current production
  • Drive continuous improvement for current production
  • Collaborate with support teams to create Lexmark MFG standards and specs 
  • Lead and support efforts to drive manufacturing consistency and flexibility 
  • Lead manufacturing efforts for NPI activities: 
    • Hardware assembly processes
    • Assembly work instructions and manufacturing documents
    • Capacity and production flexibility planning using Lean principles
    • Assembly and test fixture design
    • Support product test and quality assurance processes
    • Provide ongoing mentoring and training to China factory team 
  • Identify factory quality trends and facilitate improvements
  • Provide support to regional manufacturing centers
  • Support the introduction of OEM derivative products 
  • Collaborate with CSE and Service to understand field issues and connections to manufacturing

Minimum requirements: 

  • BS in ME, EE, or IE background and strong project management skills
  • Minimum 5 years of process, manufacturing, or quality engineering experience 
  • Possess good working knowledge of Lean principals and application
  • Work collaboratively across multiple organizational functions and geographies
  • Ability to problem-solve and resolve situations independently
  • Willingness and ability to travel to China 1-2 times per year with a 1-2-week duration
