Checking the print cartridges

Checking for proper cartridge installation

Open the scanner unit. With the front of the All-In-One facing you, make sure the color cartridge is properly installed in the right carrier, and the black or photo cartridge is properly installed in the left carrier. For more information, see Installing the print cartridges.

Checking the ink levels

• Return to the Lexmark 4300 Series Utility, and check the cartridge ink level images that appear on the dialog. If a cartridge is low, or if you have received an Ink low message, install a new cartridge.
• Check ink levels from the control panel. For more information, see Performing maintenance tasks from the control panel.

• To install a new cartridge, see Installing the print cartridges.

Checking the nozzles and contacts

• Make sure the sticker and transparent tape are removed from the print cartridges. The tape keeps ink from seeping out of the cartridge.
• If the nozzles and contacts are dirty, try Cleaning the print cartridge nozzles and Wiping the print cartridge nozzles and contacts.
