Cloud Automation Engineer

Facilitate the definition and refinement of cloud infrastructure automation strategy. This includes defining how the organization coordinates automated tasks across different technology domains, in order to: 

  • Reduce time for cloud infrastructure service provisioning 

  • Improve service uptime due to automation of manual, error-prone, changes 

  • Minimize handoffs between different teams which otherwise would be manual 

  • Maximize developer and app-owner flexibility in consuming cloud services 

  • Maximize re-use and maintainability of automation assets 

  • Recreation of immutable resources for QA/Test or Scalability 

  • Coordinate the identification of automation opportunities, define approaches and solution architectures 

  • Lead efforts to codify, deploy and operate prioritized automation 

Automation Focus Areas: 

  • Cloud Infrastructure Provisioning using Infrastructure as Code techniques 

  • Full-stack deployments and testing 

  • Server Life Cycle Automation 

  • Configuration Management for VMs post-deployment – Ansible / Puppet 

Automation and integration technologies: 

  • Tooling such as –Terraform, Ansible/Tower, Puppet/Chef, configuration management frameworks, Azure DevOps pipelines, GIT, Jenkins, etc. 

  • API development, JSON, micro-service architecture, API Gateways, SOA frameworks 

  • IT infrastructure (On Premise/VMWare) 

  • Public Cloud: Azure, AWS 

  • Software defined networking, storage systems architecture, virtualization, containers, serverless technologies 

  • Familiarity with security fundamentals and CIS Standards at the infrastructure, including cloud and hypervisor, and operating system level 

  • Familiarity with Sharepoint Online, PowerAutomate, and/or ServiceNow is a plus. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field 

  • Experience in defining IT strategy, standards, and architecture – particularly with infrastructure, automation, and public cloud services 

  • Excellent organizational, communication, documentation and project management skills 

  • Strong change control and compliance experience 

  • Strong understanding of the Agile Development Process 

  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a rapidly changing environment 

  • Experience working with regional staff and teams
