Roles and Responsibilities: This is an entrepreneurial role that focuses on the sales and business development process of identifying and building prospects and customers for new products and business opportunities able to generate new revenue streams for the Lexmark Ventures organization. This role is a fit for someone experienced in selling new and innovative solutions and technology. This person is a thought leader and change agent, who can work with a variety of different stakeholders fostering teamwork. You will have overall responsibility for the business development, business partnerships and revenues and generated by the Lexmark Ventures organization.

Through engagement with the Business development, Sales, Product managers and Marketing, this role will lead all activities related to post-sales lead follow-ups, business development, partnership development, sales pipeline management and closing deals through a combination of managing the team directly as well being involved in the sales development process. As Head of Sales you will continually seek sales opportunities and develop paths-to-market for these new Lexmark Ventures products, solutions, and technology. You will work closely with the Product Manager(s) and stakeholders to develop new sales opportunities. You will also be responsible for identifying potential joint ventures and acquisition opportunities for Lexmark Ventures. This role can be located at the corporate headquarters in Lexington, KY, or at a home office in the United States.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Identify, develop, and cultivate sales opportunities for near-term and long-term business opportunities within the Lexmark Ventures brand.
  • Identify new markets and anticipate customer needs.
  • Execute a growth strategy focused on financial gain and customer satisfaction.
  • Validate innovative ideas, business opportunities and engage in transformational partnerships with new and existing customers.
  • Build relationships across the organization and function as a change agent to foster innovative growth.
  • Establish executive credibility with key stakeholders including prospective clients, internal customers, and vendor partners.
  • Introduce and maintain strong Sales Operations processes, use of a CRM tool, forecasting, and pipeline management

The Head of Sales must be versatile about the type of products, customers, and channels. Lexmark Ventures’ portfolio includes:

  • Consumer products for which the person must develop multiple channels: a distributor/reseller network, OEM’s, retailers, and direct-to-consumers via the website and Amazon
  • Edge Internet-of-Things (IoT) offerings with hardware, software, and professional services – a consultative sale over a long sales cycle with a proof-of-concept, and some custom AI software development
  • Future offerings may target the gaming industry; customers are accessed via gaming stores, Amazon, and distributors/resellers.

Professional Experience/Qualifications: The person will be a respected leader with tremendous drive, intelligence, and capability. S/he will have strong leadership and people skills and should have the ability to align and energize the organization.

Specifically, the successful candidate should have the following experience:

  • Experienced Professional - Minimum of 15 years of sales experience, including successful sales leadership roles and a proven track record of overseeing leading sales and business development teams, successful sales execution, preferably in a global technology company.
  • Leading sales team and have turnkey responsibility for Lexmark Ventures. Proven track record of initiating and driving new markets, products, and business. A broad background is a plus: including individuals with experience in building new revenue streams in manufacturing, pharmacy, retail, automotive, healthcare, environmental, and consumer industries.
  • Established track record developing new business opportunities both directly and through channel partnerships, including e-commerce channels, driving a solutions-based approach.
  • Experience in driving sales through building a channel program and establishing selling relationships to execute.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Sales and marketing teams to drive partnerships and relationships to drive Lexmark Ventures revenues
  • Experience in making sales calls to senior executives.

  • Excellent presentation skills, proposal writing, financial justifications, and closing the sale.
  • Documenting all activities and new business forecasts.

Role Expectation:

  • Managing the Lexmark sales team to deliver revenues (50%). Collaborate with the internal team(s) and stakeholder for managing proposal writing, contracts, internal meeting, training & administrative duties.
  • Prospecting and new business development, through an outbound phone and face to face sales approach; relationship management. (50%)
  • Communication with and the coordination of Lexmark and Lexmark Ventures resources to create customer-oriented solutions.

Travel Requirement:

  • This position requires 30-50% travel.
