Smart Retail Solutions Architect

Lexmark’s Connected Technology and Ventures group is hiring an experienced Smart Retail Solutions Architect. The architect will be responsible for defining, designing, and architecting solutions that create, leverage, and manage Optra Edge and IoT Platform capabilities. This role will spearhead the Smart Retail Strategy technical needs and develop solutions to support and implement that strategy. This role will also be responsible for technical writing to document the tools, standards, methods, and governance that are confirmed to be a part of the final solution(s). This role includes customer-facing engagements that will require technical and business skills to work with prospects, customers and a cross functional Lexmark team including sales, professional services and connected technology teams.

 

Role Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with portfolio, retail specialists, development, and technical leads to gain intimate knowledge of our capabilities and objectives; collaborate closely with key stakeholders to design solutions as per roadmap
  • Software development leader as well as individual developer with Full-stack cloud software development experience.
  • Define technical solutions which address the use cases identified for Smart Retail Lighthouse customers as well as full-scale customers 
  • Collaborate on the design and implementation of the Store Digital Desktop application data store
  • Define the integration framework of Store Digital Desktop to establish integration with various Lexmark and non-Lexmark applications 
  • Develop back-end and front-end coding guidelines to establish a consistent development framework for all Smart Retail solutions 
  • Establish the process for the technical documentation of the tools, standards, methods, and governance applied to Smart Retail solutions
  • Implement the methods outlined in the aforementioned technical writing in internal and external engagements
  • Manage and update epics and stories assigned for work in scope

This could include determining patterns, standards, policies, roadmaps and vision statements. Focuses on outcomes rather than solutions and activities.
  • Turning business problems into meaningful design. Can work with business and technology stakeholders to translate business problems into designs. You can create optimal designs through iterative processes, aligning user needs with organizational objectives and system requirements.
  • Design Thinking. Can define a Design Thinking framework which would effectively have a process for prototype efforts, getting initial feedback on early concepts from key stakeholders including customers followed by the agile development process.

 

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 10 years of experience in solution architecture 
  • 5 years of experience in solutions or services segment 
  • 10 years of experience in software development
  • Strong business and technical acumen
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
  • A highly motivated, self-directed individual who is tenacious in his/her approach, and approaches business in an energetic way
  • Superior interpersonal and leadership skills and the ability to win the confidence of individuals both within and outside of the organization
  • Domain knowledge in retail a plus
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and generally accepted information availability principles
