[Lexmark has been named to the 2023 100 Best Companies by professional services and research firm Seramount. The annual list recognizes companies in the U.S. that set the standard for family-friendly practices including parental leave, fertility/adoption benefits, and flexible scheduling. This is the seventh year Lexmark has been named one of the 100 Best Companies.

"Our 100 Best Companies are going the extra mile to create inclusive work environments for their parents and caregivers," says Subha V. Barry, president of Seramount. "In addition to gender-neutral parental leave, organizations are upping their benefit offerings to cover necessities like childcare and sick-child care. Not only that, but they also recognize that this generation of workers will likely have to care for a sick family member at some point and are providing the support to do so. We are proud to honor these forward-thinking companies."

The 2023 Seramount 100 Best Companies application includes more than 300 questions related to leave policies, workforce representation, benefits, childcare, advancement programs, flexibility, and more.

"We are proud to again be named to Seramount's annual list of the 100 Best Companies for working parents, which recognizes the efforts of businesses that prioritize inclusive benefits for families," said Tonya Jackson, senior vice president and chief people officer. "Lexmark's inclusion in this prestigious list is a testament to our commitment to providing comprehensive benefits for working parents and all our employees."

As part of the Best Companies designation, companies included in the top 100 list can recognize up to two employees to be named "Working Parents of the Year."  Lexmark's 2023 parent honorees are Kevin Coupal, AI/ML engineer in Lexmark Global Analytics and Lisa Doctrow, internal communications manager.

Coupal was named a nominee after a colleague shared his active role as a volunteer with many of the activities and organizations his children are involved in with school and their local community. His sons Brandon (20) and Jonathan (15) were both very active in Boy Scouts and Coupal and his wife Jennifer both served in various scout leadership roles. You might also see Coupal on the sidelines of local marching band competitions as he works in the pit crew to support Jonathan.

"The most rewarding aspect of being a parent of two wonderful boys is providing them with adventures and challenges that will shape their adult lives," said Coupal. He also expressed gratitude for how supportive the Lexmark culture is for parents, saying, "the most important way Lexmark supports working parents and our families is through enabling a good work/life balance. Lexmark has implemented many technology and communication enhancements that allow us to work just as efficiently from a home office as in the traditional office. This flexibility lets me choose to work remotely on occasions I need to help my son."

Doctrow was nominated in recognition of managing several major family transitions in the last year. Her twin sons Daniel and Jacob, 18, graduated high school and both are now majoring in engineering at the University of Kentucky. Her daughter Kayla, 14, began high school this year and is in a pre-engineering program. Lisa and her husband Rob are the biggest fans of their children's activities and have spent a great deal of time over the last few years supporting their kids as they participated in dance, archery, baseball and competitive gaming.

"I joined Lexmark when my twins were infants, and I'm so appreciative of the flexibility that the company has provided me," Doctrow said. "As any working parent knows, juggling work and home responsibilities can be challenging. I feel lucky I've been able to be there for my kids and cheer them on at all their events. This year has been particularly tough for my family, as I was diagnosed with breast cancer in February. Through surgery and five weeks of daily radiation, I was grateful to Lexmark for enabling me to adjust my schedule as needed, take time for self-care, and attend all the end-of-school-year and graduation activities. I was even more grateful for the care and support from my Lexmark colleagues. I hope I've inspired my kids to pursue a fulfilling career while prioritizing time with loved ones."

Earlier this year Lexmark was also recognized by Seramount as a Top 10 Company for Executive Women
